Open out French Doors are a classic alternative to sliding doors. They add character to any home and come in a massive range of sizes and styles.

The most common set of French Doors is simply a pair of glass doors that open outside of the home. Depending on what you require, we do not need to follow this general orientation. We have supplied  units that open into the home, that incorporate fixed matching sidelites and even units with louvre openings!

Multifold Timber Doors

An internal multifold door is a great alternative to closing off rooms and is often used in ‘open plan’ living spaces. A multifold door has multiple doors that are divided in half and fold down the middle into smaller doors; they have no bottom track, just a top track, making them easier to open and close.

The multifold door is a great option for when you don’t have enough space to open up a big door because it collapses in half (like a bi-fold door would), saving space. They are often used for separating rooms or for closing off open rooms that have bigger openings such as media rooms or office spaces.

Another great feature of multifold doors is that they enable you to control the temperature and air flow of your home easier – you can easily open up or close off rooms to confine air conditioning to one room or allow it to flow through the whole house.

We have our own joinery factory that enables us to create custom doors. Whether your door is architecturally designed or you just have an abnormal sized door opening, Door City can create your dream door from scratch.

Our talented team of professionals can create your new door based off sketches, plans, photos or printouts. We pride ourselves on our quality workmanship and we love a good challenge – we believe that if you can think it up then we can create it!

The Custom Doors Process

The process for getting a custom door built is made as simple as possible when you work with Door City. If you have an idea of what you want then bring in the measurements, images and sketches to one of our three Queensland showrooms. You can also send us an email to sales@doorcity.com.au if you have any questions or would like to ask our advice.

Once we have a good idea of what you are looking for we will draw it up for you – if the design is to your liking then we will give you a quote for the custom door. The timeframe for the door will vary depending on the specifications of the job but we will do our best to give you a rough timeframe for when you can expect the door to be ready for Delivery.

We also provide staining and delivery services for your new custom designed door if required.

Solid Timber Stacker Doors

Stacker doors are a great alternative to bi-folding doors; they are great for areas where space is an issue as the doors stack on top of each other, ensuring that they don’t encroach on space. Our stacking doors also involve less moving parts than most standard bi-folding doors, which in most cases makes them cheaper and easier to install.

Like our whole range of doors, our stacker doors are made of solid maple timber. They come with stainless steel wheels and brass tracks – this makes them more durable than any sliding door that has plastic wheels. Plastic wheels can be unreliable because if they sit in one spot for too long, the weight of the door (as well as heat) can flatten the wheel making them unable to roll correctly. Stainless steel wheels don’t have this problem, and the addition of the brass tracks means that even if the door sits somewhere that is not completely level, the wheels will still perform optimally.

3 Door Bi-Fold

Any bifold that operates with an uneven amount of doors will incorporate what is called a ‘flapper door’. On a three door unit, the flapper door can be used as a lockable door to enter/exit your home without having to unbolt any door pairs.

3 Door Bi-Fold orientations:

Available in even folding pairs or with a ‘double flapper door’. Double flapper doors operate much the same as open out French Doors, with the option to fold the doors back further increasing the opening.

Ordering an Entry Door

Here at Door City, we keep the majority of our entrance doors in stock and available for purchase in a range of sizes/glass options. These stock doors are constructed of Solid Maple timber* and we carry this on throughout our works by framing the doors and providing other components out of the exact same timber.

In some cases, such as entrance doors requiring a particular BAL rating or if your front door is exposed to the elements more than recommended, we will specially make to order your door, frame and any other components from Solid New Guinea Rosewood. New Guinea Rosewood is a much denser timber than the standard maple we use, giving it a much longer lifetime in the elements.
