Stacker Doors Designs to Combine Style, Elegance and Functionality
Sometimes, it does happen that products’ names are somewhat misleading or downright confusing. However, when it comes to stacker doors, they’re most appropriately and descriptively named. They are stylish, functional doors that form a stack of door panels when in the open position.
Stacker Doors Save Space
Panel widths may be narrower than the standard width of a traditional hinged door. Regardless, when opened and stowed in a stack of panels, these stacker doors are actually space-savers too. Door City stacker doors are flexible closure options, ideal for separating different areas within a large or open-plan interior space, simply by closing the stack of door panels to form a single, continuous “wall” of panels.
Unlike a solid wall, most stacker panels incorporate glass panes within their wooden frames, so they don’t have a significant limit on the amount of light and brightness within either interior space.
The Forefront of Style and Functionality
When installed as an exterior door system, our Door City stacker doors really come to the forefront of style and functionality. Like all our other door options, our stackers are made of quality, solid Maple wood and legally compliant glass panes. Perfectly matching door frames complete the picture – the doors’ function and elegant style. Benefits of stackers include:
- Let in natural light as though one is outside.
- Great for a natural fresh flow of air and ventilation.
- Allow an expansive, clear outdoor view, whilst keeping wind and weather at bay.
- Create a virtually seamless flow between the home’s interior spaces and the outdoors.
- Make rooms appear more spacious.
- A super stylish addition to any home.
- Adjust or enhance the size of the home’s living and leisure areas – wherever stackers are installed.
- Operate and function smoothly, with ultimate ease.
Stackers vs. Bi-Fold Doors
Because both stacker and bi-fold doors slide along a track to close and open up into a stack of panels, some regard these options as being the same product, but at Door City, they are two distinctly different ranges. Two or more bi-fold panels are hinged together and fold up accordingly, concertina-style.
On the other hand, whilst also running on a floor-mounted track, stacker door designs consist of a series of individual, separate panels, which stack one behind the other to one or both sides of the door opening.
Both types of door systems feature a fixed glass door, which serves as an access point and typically may form a basis for the stacked panels.
Flexible Options Aplenty
Door City’s stacker door designs may be custom-built or, as standard, are available in a variety of widths and configurations.
- 2-door stacker – one fixed and one sliding door.
- 3-door stacker – one fixed and two sliding panels that stack on a fixed section.
- 4-door option – again, one fixed plus three stackable sliders.
- 4- door stacker, 1 stack each way – two fixed doors, one on each side, each accommodating two sliding panels.
